Thank you for considering a donation to Litters 'n Critters Rescue Society.

We are an independent, self governed animal rescue organization, with a board of directors and volunteers located across Nova Scotia. We do not have a shelter or a physical address as we rely solely on the fostering process. We do not receive grants or government funding so our only means of raising money is through fundraising and private donations. All money raised goes directly to help the dogs in our care.

We are often asked how donated funds are used.  More than 95% of all funds - from both adoption fees and donations - are put towards towards vet bills. These are usually either for routine spays/neuters and vaccines, or for more significant procedures such as amputations, major surgeries, and medications. The remaining funds are used for basic rescue necessities, including food, toys, treats, crates and beds, leashes, collars, and cleaning supplies. Unlike shelters with paid employees, our volunteers are not compensated, and generally pay their own expenses.

We are extremely grateful for the kind donations we receive.

*Please note: we are not able to provide tax receipts for donations.

Financial contributions

We make it easy to donate online with PayPal and e-transfer.

For e-transfers and PayPal please use to donate!

If you prefer, you can also donate towards our (ongoing!) vet bills at Carnegy Animal Hospital in Clayton Park.

We are registered with Aeroplan Beyond Miles Charitable Donation program. This is a great way to help! Every mile we earn will be put toward the rescue.

Needed Items

We always need items! We have specific needs depending on the time of year and the animals in rescue, including toys, hypoallergenic chews and treats, gift cards, and flea/tick medications.
