Becoming a Foster Family
Litters 'n Critters works solely on the foster care system; all the dogs we take into rescue are placed in foster homes until they are adopted.
A foster parent provides a temporary home for dogs or puppies we bring into the rescue. The length of a fostering commitment can vary from a few days to several months, depending on the amount of care that is needed and the length of time that it takes to find the right forever home. The devotion and care given during this time allows the dog to have a second chance in life by being adopted into a new loving home.
The rewards of being a foster parent are many. They include offering an animal a second chance and the added benefit of receiving the love and attention right back from the animal that you nurture.
Bringing a foster animal into your home is often the first and most important step in giving them a new lease on life. Many of these dogs are homeless and may have suffered from abuse and neglect. There is no time limit on foster care while we attempt to find permanent homes for the animals. We do ask that the foster volunteers commit to care for their animal until a permanent home is found.
Foster families are crucial in helping us to evaluate the dogs in our care and finding them them new forever homes. We ask foster families to assess the dogs who are under their care and provide a biography of the dog along with photos for our website and facebook page. The foster families will also help process the applications that we receive for their foster dog, and with the guidance of the rescue's management, they will assist with choosing the dog's new family.
If you are interested in becoming a foster parent for us, you are required to complete a foster application and submit this to our rescue for review. This will help us to determine what type of dog is best suited to you and your lifestyle. You must be at least 19 years old and all other animals in your house must be spayed or neutered and up to date on all core vaccinations.

Please Consider Donating to Litters 'n Critters
Litters 'n Critters relies on the donations of animal lovers to operate. We do not receive grants or government funding so our only means of raising money is through fundraising and private donations. All money raised goes directly to help the dogs in our care.
