PLEASE READ OUR ENTIRE ADOPTION PROCESS PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR A PET IN RESCUE
_______________________________________________________________

Adoption costs:
Puppies up to 6 months:$75.00
All dogs 6 months and older: $150.00
Kittens under 6 months: $40.00
Cats 6 months and older: $80.00
In lieu of an adoption fee, the surrendering party has the option to make a donation equal to (or more than) the cost of the adoption fee in which part the adoption fee for the pet we take into rescue will be waived. The adoption fee helps us to cover some of the costs associated with the animals who find their way into rescue as all the dogs and cats over the age of 6 months that come into our rescue are spayed or neutered, vet checked and have all their vaccinations up to date prior to being adopted. All puppies are vaccinated, dewormed and vet checked prior to being adopted.
We are all volunteers so none of the money goes to people, it all goes to help the animals.

We take the adoption of one of our rescue animals very seriously. Please understand that this is an adoption, NOT A PURCHASE, which is why the first step is for any potential adopters to complete our adoption application. This is so we may be confident that the animal you wish to adopt is well suited for you, your home, your lifestyle, and is placed in an environment that is compatible to the animal. You will be asked to provide personal and vet references which we will contact. You will then be required to do a telephone interview where we ask you a series of questions. ***If we can not contact you, we do not leave a call back number because since we are all volunteers, we do this mainly from our homes*** If you pass the telephone interview, we will call your references, both personal and vet. We require at least 3 days to process your application, sometimes it takes longer as we do this entirely on a volunteer basis. This time frame will give us the opportunity to discuss the application with you, contact your references, obtain permission from landlords or property owners in the case of rental situations, and discuss the application with the Litters ‘n Critters Rescue Society adoption committee. We do not release any information to anyone outside our rescue organization. Submitting an application to our rescue does not mean automatic approval. An applicant will be accepted based on our adoption process and the recommendations of the adoption committee.
Our application process is a means of assuring that we have all the appropriate information for the animal’s records and our own paperwork, and to help us gather information about what you may be looking for. In some cases, the rescue may say no on a particular animal you are interested in. Litters ‘n Critters Rescue Society reserves the right to postpone or decline any adoption application or the adoption itself. We care about the animals that come into our rescue and want nothing but the best for them. We apologize that we may not have time to contact every individual that has applied for an animal to let them know that the animal they are interested in has been adopted, but we recieve an overwhelming amount of applications for an animal, especially dogs and puppies.

Adoptions are not on a first come, first served basis. Through our adoption contract, we make specific requirements for your animal’s care, and detail the rescue’s expectations of any potential adopters. If approved to adopt from our rescue and you take a new pet home with you, you will have a 10 day trial period starting from the date the contract is signed. At any time during the 10 day trial period, the adopter may give back the animal to the rescue and get a full refund of your adoption fee or the rescue may take back the animal for any reason they consider appropriate. Your completed applications will be kept on file for a 3 month period of time and you will be asked to submit a new application if it has been past that 3 month period since your prior application or adoption. Many people opt to get a pre-approved application so we can keep it on file. We do this so that if an animal comes into rescue that meets the life style of a preapproved applicant, they will have the first right of refusal. We find this to be easier on the animal so they won't be shuffled around too much. Moving from their home is upsetting enough, we try to make the move as easy as possible for the animal.
Our goal is to find lifelong, loving homes for the pets who have found their way into our rescue group. We try to find the best possible match between the animal and the adopting family. We will not knowingly place animals which are aggressive, seriously ill or who have serious behavioral problems. All the animals we adopt are indoor pets. Dogs are not to be tied outside or left to run free unattended and cats are strictly indoor cats only.
Please go to the "applications and forms" tab and fill out an application and email it to adoptions@littersncritters.com or email us at info@littersncritters.com if you would like an application sent to you.
